URIDA came into existence in the year 1991 as a registered entity in Delhi. The establishment of URIDA was the outcome of long term efforts and vision of a committed team, passionate towards social work. Mrs. Sneh Lata Sharma, who is the founder of URIDA, had been working for the cause of women and children many years prior to its legal existence. The founder member, joined hands with like minded friends and acquaintances who being technocrats, educationists and professional took up this noble task for the cause of people living in urban slums and rural areas of India where development process has slowed down due to poverty, ignorance and illiteracy.
URIDA’s vision is “Enlightened Communities free from evils of poverty, illiteracy and ignorance”. For the last 31 years the organization has been working in the fields of Skill development, health, education, women empowerment, handicraft promotion and disaster management.
List of our supporters include Ministries like Ministry of MSME,Rural Development, AYUSH, Women and Child Development, Textiles, HRD ,Health and family Welfare, Environment and Forests, Home Affairs, Road transport and highways, and Departments such as Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Municipal Committee of Haridwar, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan-UP, Autonomous bodies including National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Central Board of secondary Education (CBSE) CAPART, National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW),and National Insurance Corporation of India. Foreign Donor agencies like USAID, Education Trust (USA), CORE group have also supported URIDA’s social development initiatives in the past. The organization has also associated with Container Corporation of India Ltd, ONGC, TATA group and LIC of India for implementing their CSR programmes.
The organization is an empanelled training provider under various skill development projects such as DDUGKY, ISDS, PMKVY, MMKVY/MMKY and SKP by CBSE. We are also empanelled as a handicrafts training partner with Ministry of Textiles (Handicrafts) and National CSR hub of Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
