Health, Nutrition & Community Well-being

Good health is fundamental to sustainable development and improved quality of life. URIDA is committed to promoting preventive healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, and healthy lifestyles among underserved communities across rural and urban areas. Through a wide range of health interventions, awareness programmes, community clinics, and rehabilitation services, the organization strives to improve the physical, mental, and social well-being of women, children, adolescents, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups.

Our integrated health initiatives focus on nutrition education, free medical services, maternal and child healthcare, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), disease prevention, family welfare, and drug de-addiction. By combining community participation with professional healthcare support, URIDA empowers individuals to make informed health choices, adopt healthy practices, and build stronger, healthier communities.

Food & Nutrition Awareness and Demonstration Camps

Good nutrition is the foundation of a healthy and productive life. URIDA regularly organizes Food & Nutrition Awareness and Demonstration Camps to educate women, adolescent girls, and children about balanced diets, healthy eating habits, and the prevention of malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies.

These interactive, theme-based camps are conducted by nutrition experts who demonstrate the preparation of nutritious, low-cost meals using locally available and affordable ingredients. Participants receive practical guidance on child nutrition, maternal nutrition, infant feeding practices, anaemia prevention, food hygiene, and healthy cooking methods. The programme encourages families to adopt sustainable dietary practices that improve overall health and well-being.

Community Health Camps

URIDA conducts free Community Health Camps at regular intervals in underserved rural and urban communities to improve access to basic healthcare services. These camps primarily benefit women, children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable populations who have limited access to medical facilities.

Qualified doctors and healthcare professionals provide comprehensive health check-ups, medical consultations, basic diagnostic services, health counselling, and free medicines. The camps also focus on preventive healthcare by creating awareness about common diseases, nutrition, sanitation, lifestyle disorders, and early diagnosis of health conditions.

Free Medical Check-ups through Community Health Clinic

URIDA operates a Community Health Clinic that provides affordable and accessible primary healthcare services to economically disadvantaged families. The clinic offers free medical consultations, health screening, and essential medicines, particularly for women and children.

Special emphasis is placed on maternal and child health, reproductive health, adolescent health, family planning, immunization awareness, and preventive healthcare. Qualified medical professionals provide counselling on pregnancy care, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and family welfare. Eligible couples are guided on family planning options and provided with contraceptives free of cost.

The clinic also promotes health education, early detection of diseases, and timely referral to specialized healthcare institutions whenever required.

WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Program

As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and URIDA’s commitment to improving community health, the organization implements comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs in urban slums and rural communities.

Our trained volunteers and community-based WASH Champions conduct awareness sessions, household visits, school programs, and community campaigns to promote safe drinking water, sanitation, personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, and environmental cleanliness.

Major activities include:

  • Community awareness meetings and workshops
  • Door-to-door hygiene education
  • Handwashing and sanitation demonstrations
  • Mass cleanliness drives
  • Observation of Hygiene Week
  • School sanitation awareness programs
  • Promotion of waste segregation and safe waste disposal
  • Identification and recognition of clean streets and neighborhoods

These initiatives encourage behavioral change and active community participation in creating cleaner, healthier, and disease-free environments.
